LITTLE JUMBO CREATIVE MUSIC SERIES

Little Jumbo's creative music series functions as a cultural incubator—providing space for the genesis of new musical ideas. Every Monday and Tuesday, we showcase world-class musicians performing original, boundary-pushing work—completely free, no cover charge. This isn't background music; it's music in its purest form: live, unfiltered, and pushing the genre forward in real time. As an incubator, we create space where musicians explore new sonic territories and audiences encounter ideas they've never heard before. Democratizing access to exceptional art is who we are—it's the same philosophy behind everything we do.

The Final (For Now) Sunday Experiment

Little Jumbo is pleased to welcome local resident, and international fiddle phenomenon Casey Driessen for his final (for now) Sunday night residency.

Casey Driessen has never taken the standard path in his music career. Described by Zac Brown as “a mad scientist with a five-string fiddle.” Of the GRAMMY-nominated fiddle player Rolling Stone expressed "Driessen pours all he’s seen into his instrument; the result is both breathtaking and transformative." Currently, that means pouring himself into Otherlands: A Global Music Exploration. Produced, performed, recorded and filmed by Driessen, Otherlands is a travelogue of on-location recordings, short films, and essays documenting musical collaborations through Spain, Ireland, Scotland, India, Japan, and Finland. Driessen undertook this nearly year-long journey with his family, and the results are a 26-episode video series, a 13-song recording of collaborations titled Otherlands:ONE, stories from each encounter, and hundreds of photos.

Over the past 14 years, Driessen has released four solo records and toured as a one-man live looping show called The Singularity; collaborated with Darrell Scott, Tim O’Brien, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Steve Earle and others; produced and engineered records; teched, managed stages, tours, and merch; and travelled the world playing music in 22 countries on four continents and counting.

“Worldly musical delights.” — NPR Weekend Edition

“Monster chops and imagination to match.” — Downbeat

“One of the most brilliant bluegrass fiddlers in the world… This is the life we should wish for our best traditional artists, jetting around the world, melding minds with other masters.” — Folk Alley

“Casey Driessen revels in making his fiddle do things that seem not just left-of-center but downright improbable.” — PopMatters

Russ Wilson and His Kings Of Jazz

Russ Wilson has been called the PAUL WHITEMAN OF THE 21st CENTURY by fellow musicians and fans alike. Not just because he bares uncanny resemblance to the portly 20's and 30's dance band leader but because of the style of music his orchestra plays. Russ and his Kings of Jazz are the only big band in the Southeast faithfully and authentically recreating the sounds of 20's and 30's hot jazz and early swing music. Music made famous by Ben Pollack, Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb, Duke Ellington, "POPS" himself Paul Whiteman and many others.

Russ and the K.O.J. have played for numerous dances, parties, weddings, hotel and restaurant engagements throughout the southeast. Russ and the band have released 3 albums "DOIN' THE UPTOWN LOWDOWN."  "SWINGIN' AT THE ARMORY" and "WHITE HEAT."
